Hiruko the Baku from Nightmare Inspector: Yumekui Kenbun
As hinted by the title, Hiruko is an inspector of nightmares - or to be more precise, he is a dream-eating spirit known as a Baku that can enter into the dreams of others. For him especially, he differs from others of his kind in that he makes it his occupation that deals with clientele who suffer from nightmares by trying to help absolve them from within the dream itself - though a client’s aftermath may fall in either drastic end of ‘for better or worse’. For the muses languishing from their darkest visions and seek to delve deeper into their subconscious recesses, Hiruko is more than able to grant them that choice with his abilities.
Clunk! With a swirl of magic, an egg materializes out of nowhere, landing carefully on a soft surface. Cracks spread across the surface until finally, a Pokemon pops out of it.
Congrats! You are now the proud owner of a Solosis!

Okay, so I’ve been seeing these Pokemon things running around, but never have I actually seen any eggs actually pop into the submission box. So, I’m doing it too!

It wasn’t exactly a subject she wanted the conversation to diverge to, though she had a feeling it was hardly one to be avoided with how subtle she was about trying to hide her own pain. The reminders of her actions in the past were returning to wring her out from inside again that once she had gotten over the initial shock of being pulled into a hug, she could hardly begin to withhold her guilt. She found herself returning the embrace, if only for the feeling that doing so would anchor her down from the incoming torrent of emotions.
“I- I— Why…” Saki was already tripping and choking over her words as she felt her remorse flooding within her and overflowing into more tears that she tried vainly to hold back. “It’s been over a year already, b-but I still can’t forgive myself for what happened before - pursuing and imprisoning every endangered magical girl we came upon like they belonged in a zoo and confiscating their soul gems; rejecting the natural laws of life by trying to revive someone passed away…”
They had been right, hadn’t they? ‘They’ being DEA and the others who had opposed them so soon after they had returned to life, not her and the rest of the original Saints that had tainted their soulless hands. The latter were nothing more than savage thieves going about and carrying ignorant methods in trying to play hero under the commands of their most foolish leader. It was by her orders that other puella magi had lost their lives by their folly; that countless others were caught up in their stresses; that the world was even at risk of being destroyed while millions died due to the conflict that had been brought up by news of their sins. She couldn’t seem to shake the logic that it had all been her fault no matter what others had insisted, no matter how much time had passed.
“I-I blindly trampled on the feelings of everyone else in my obsession to defy the Incubators and bring back the person that had left our family incomplete through her death. I stirred up such irreparable cataclysms through it all! Did I even really do it all for the sake of everyone in the first place when my approaches were so selfish? I told myself I had accepted the consequences of committing these acts before I died, but I don’t think I ever knew just how terrible the repercussions were going to be.”
A lot of this she knew already about her and it even related to the Saints as a whole. The other appeared to blame herself for everything and the consequences that arose from it. It bit at her more that she even helped contribute to this state considering had she not killed several in her previous life, this guilt would be considerably less. Honestly, none of i truly was Saki’s fault, or alone it wasn’t. All that happened could not of been predicted.
Pulling Saki closer and placing the other’s tearing eyes on her shoulder, she lightly spoke to calm her down while reasoning through things. “Shhhhh, it okay, Saki.” Patting Saki’s back soothingly like her mother used to do all the while. “Things happen that are beyond out control, Saki. Though your blaming of yourself for everything the resulted from decisions that were either someone else’s and the group’s is not something you should do neither.”
“For starters, Nico’s death you could not of prevented nor foreseen. Satomi’s was nobodies fault, but an accident. Those things would of happened regardless of your decisions. If it weren’t for you, Kazumi herself would never of had a life. The troubles that happened from your family’s original collapse is my doing as I strung the strings of doubt. I can never be forgiven for my manipulation, but that was not your cause so don’t try taking my responsibility in that. All that happened in your previous life that can be remotely your fault was holding out hope to return your family whole. If I hadn’t of interfered then things could of worked.”
Taking a moment to think how best to word everything else, she took a deep breathe. It hurt to admit it, but several of these things stemmed from her. Though some were just bad luck. “Similar to Nico, you and the rest didn’t even know of the system when Michiru was lost. There was nothing you could of done. Unlike DEA, I think what you all did for the other puella was a kind deed. They would of died and from what I have been told, once you despair you are left to drown forever in it. No after life. Not unless you destroy their gem… but that would be no less murder. You did the right thing and those outside of the system don’t understand that.”
“The ridiculous shadow business and DEA was a jumbled up mess that was entirely out of your control. It something that you couldn’t notice nor stop. Kaoru spoke with her and DEA didn’t understand just how things work. A robot who is an idealist but that isn’t reality. From that, things spun out to the shadow dilemma and not a soul could of prevented it. That wasn’t something you can take blame for. You have done so much keeping your sisters safe thus far and help keep them together. Everything is in the past now. instead of regretting when everyone is alive and well, you should be thankful. Enjoy it and watch over them like they watch over you. Nothing in a team rests on anyone’s shoulders alone, even if you are proclaimed it leader. They followed cause they wanted to and they continue to cause you genuinely care, even if self doubt over it exists. If anyone, I am to blame. For that, I am sorry that my actions have caused this torment…”
Holding Saki close and trying her best to show how sincere her words were with the gesture. “So please learn to forgive yourself a little.”
“My perverted living plant is talking with Saki… Well hopefully it can contain its peculiar urges.. should be fine.” Walks off just in case.

“Of course you’d be insistent.” Why did she even bother to humor the unlikely idea that she could drop a simple and trivial gesture without feeling the need to try to reciprocate it? Saki would probably have remained just as stubborn about the thought of returning the favor if she hadn’t learned at this point how adamant the Kanna’s were about breaking even. And it was for the sake of this little day too, however unimportant it was.
“Why don’t I simply hold on to the favor for the time being then? Until I can think of one specifically for you to repay me with, that is, since it doesn’t seem like you’ll be letting this go. I wouldn’t want to keep you away from returning to whatever it was you were doing.”
“Alright, Saki. I am holdin’ you to that. If you don’t use that favor, I will be buggin’ you again about it. After all, I do wish to repay and show my gratitude. Now if you’ll excuse me, I will take that offer and escape from this love-dovey holiday and back to my work.” At that she began walking back to the closet.
“God dammit all!!” She yelled after tripping on her misplaced wrench before rolling into the closet, closing it and a sudden flash of light as she accidentally set off her own teleportation system.
“Just sayin’ right now. DID NOT DO IT!” She walks away from what was sure to be a blood bath later for Nico.

“Am I?” Saki asked curiously as she continued to stroke the tiny feline behind the ears as she thought on the question. “Do I seem like the type to usually mess with people?” It was an honest inquiry. Some people seemed to be implying that she had been overlooking some things regarding her characteristics in some way lately.
“I don’t think it would have been a bother, though. You’ve been spending a lot of time here lately that someone could easily mistake you as a resident here. None of the others here seem to have a problem with you coming here.” Not mentioning the little oven incidents and other similar situations. “And we’ve always had a guest room that’s been unused these days.”
“Well… I don’t think you are one to normally mess with people. Just more me…playing fun, I suppose?” She was a little surprised Saki was inquiring on that in such a serious manner. Did Saki hold confusion of herself like she did or just what was it that made Saki curious about that? Needless to say, her thought on this side tracked as she stopped nuzzling Saki’s hand and went to rest her head on the other’s leg. Saki’s petting definitely had an affect over her.
“… I guess I could consider it. Though it just seems, I dunno, not my place to intrude too much here.” A little mew and yawn came as she got cozy from the warmth she was getting from Saki. “I will admit, that being a cat, I seem to enjoy being pet quite a bit… even if you might be messing with me.”
Besides Ryoko-mun, does anyone want a starter? It can be pretty much anything considering how flexible and generally trolling Kanna can be.
I just noticed… I can’t reply to David’s Kaoru’s thread….since his reply disappeared with his old Kaoru account……….
